Men of Enmark (LJi s8e13)

Flies upon windows are ignorant of the glass framed in steel anchored in manmade walls. They only know it as a surface to rest on. Time is as intangible as the truth to flies. For years, decades, centuries even, the best minds have argued what it is. Still, the best definition we have is it’s what clocks measure; like my paycheck. You can call it ( Read more... )

At least no one got hurt! I would never want one of those jobs where you're left alone around a cash register in the middle of the night- WAY too dangerous.

The perp is apparently from my hometown. If that's true, the sad thing is I probably know him.

No, no one was hurt (thankfully), but protocol is to give up the money and I doubt the robber really wanted to murder someone over the register.

Enmark is one of those dimly lit places that doesn't have a walk-in building. It doesn't stay open later than 11, but that didn't stop this guy.

Interesting... we picked similar articles but approached them from opposite angles. I like what you did with this.

I think bank robberies are way more interesting. But it was either I write about this or some meth lab being cracked over. I figured I would try to make what is a common, mundane crime in an urban society and make it something introspective, dreamless, poetic and somewhat emotional.

I really like how you made it so introspective and poetic. It's a real contrast to the dry facts of the article yet, I bet both could be true, in a way.

It seems like there are more robberies in my home town these days. The economy is hard on many.

So compelling the way you look at this in fragments...and I love the lyrics at the end, it makes me think about how bandits used to be celebrated.

Yeah, I wrote the first line "Tell them you want your freedom, Jack Straw," in a comment on one of sonophax's amazing entries. I knew there was a poem somewhere in there.

Thanks for reading.
