I enjoyed the story I always loved pulp serials. At first I though Gwen might be delusional and this was all a dream or a psychotic break.

Of course there wouldn't be. June's absolutely bonkers and her delusions of invincibility and grandeur finally catch up to her in the end. Plus, not like lots of automated defended intact Aztec ruins lying around undiscovered.

It's a deconstructed analogue for Indiana Jones and explorer action adventure pulp stories.
