2) How do I earn bonus points?
1. Visit the Roster/Application post for the club you would like to join. These can be found on the main userinfo page.
2. Buy at least one of the bonus items listed on the roster at Diagon Alley.
3. Apply according to the guidelines posted by the current Club Leader in that post.
4. Profit!
Once you've signed up you should be set to earn your points, even if it takes awhile for the club leader to add you. You need to have applied to the club before an activity closes in order to get bonus points for participating in the activity.

3) How do I become a Club Leader?
1. Be an active member of hogwartsishome.
2. Have been a member of hogwartsishome for at least two months.
3. Fill out the application to lead the club of your choice when there is a slot available. This can be found in the hh_clubs userinfo. While there is not a set requirement regarding participation in clubs, it is strongly recommended that you participate before applying so you have an idea of what running a club entails.
4. You may want to prove yourself by running any available open club until the club of your choice becomes available.
5. Individuals are limited to running no more than 3 clubs at any given time.

4) Can I invent a club?
There are already tons of clubs that need attending, so we are not looking to expand the number of clubs at this time. If you have an idea you think is totally fantastic and you don't think it can wait until the next time we accept proposals for new clubs, you can feel free to run it by the Clubs Mods. Be forewarned that the chances of a new club being approved outside of us asking for new ones to be proposed are extremely slim.

5) I have a problem with a Club Leader/Member. What should I do?
Try to resolve it if it's something that needs resolution. Be aware, though, that if you make a big deal you'll only make matters worse. We strongly encourage you to try to talk it out and try to resolve it on the first level if at all possible. If you try that and it doesn't work, take it to clubsmods and try not to be a Drama Queen. Contact the clubsmods account if you need help.

8) What do I get for participating in clubs?
Points for your House!! And for participating activities in Animagus, Daily Prophet, Sorted and Writer's Block you can also earn knuts.

9) Yes, actually--I want to earn knuts!
Tough. These are school clubs, not jobs. If you would like to earn knuts or learn more about them, please visit the hogwartsishome main page and scroll through its FAQ. Clubs are just for fun and House Pride. And points. Don't forget the points. And those four aforementioned exceptions when it comes to earning knuts.

Club Leader Specific FAQ

1) Okay, I lead a club- now what?
Come up with a fantastic concept for a points-earning activity. Submit the idea for approval over at The System. Wait for approval, then post it to hh_clubs. You will also need to take applications and develop a roster for your club. Please keep the Clubs Mods apprised of the link for your roster for listing on our main page.

A guide for Club Leaders has been developed by the Clubs Mods and is made available to all new Club Leaders here.

2) What else do I need to do as a Club Leader?
You will be expected to post a minimum of ONE points-earning activity per month and need to post something substantive related to your club at least every two weeks. All activities and posts from your club must be tagged accordingly. Also, you need to keep your club going: keep your roster updated, clear out inactive members at least once per term, etc. You must also submit points for your activities in The System in a timely fashion. Members of your club are counting on YOU to get their hard-earned points to the proper officials to be counted in with the month's total.

Oh, and we pay you for doing all this. And then there's the fame and glory. Can't forget that.

Clubs are allowed no more than two points-earning activities in a given month. If you fail to meet the standard of posting something every other week and hosting at least one points-earning activity in a given month, you may be removed from your Club Leader position by the Clubs Mods.

3) Does it have to be Potter-verse related?
No, but you should try to find tie-ins to keep it relevant and interesting to your members. They're not a part of this community to discuss real life all the time, they are here for an escape and have a particular interest in the world created by J.K. Rowling.

4) I'm having a problem with a club member!
Deal with it the best you can and consider it a learning experience. If it gets further out of hand than a simple personality conflict, take it up with clubsmods. But honestly? Just expect them on occasion, try to let it slide or brush it off--everyone has a bad day/year/lifetime and some people are just jerks.

We do recommend that if a comment is posted that is likely to start drama or the conversation gets out of hand that you freeze replies to said comment and, if appropriate, screen the offending comment. We have seen in the past that if left floating out there, the drama just gets bigger and early intervention can stop a minor disagreement from spiraling into a community-wide argument.

Remember that you can also address any major issues to a member's Prefect if it becomes a wider-reaching issue. Members should know that in all HiH communities causing drama, house-bashing, being rude, etc. can lead to points being taken and this is usually enough to keep everything all in fun. Consult the Clubs Mods if you think a situation has occurred in hh_clubs that warrants the taking of points.

5) Can I participate in my own activities?
Yes, definitely! The only ones you can't participate in are ones where you know the answers (like trivia or word searches, etc.). Also, we prefer you not vote in your own activities since you know who submitted.

When you're running an activity with placement, please only consider your own entries for more than participation only if the placement results can be checked by the Clubs Mods or a Mini Mod (ie. we could tally voting again or something similar). If you're not sure whether or not you can award yourself placement points, please ask the mods before submitting them.

Some people don't participate in their own activities when there is voting, or some people just submit for participation only and don't include theirs for voting, but others participate and put their own up for voting. Really it's a personal preference. There is no rule against it. (Just make sure you have people vote in the comments and not in some other format, so that way if any questions arise, the clubs mods can double-check and confirm you did everything right.)

6) How do I step down from my leadership role?
