I'm kind of late to the party, but I just had to say that this is incredibly cool. I really like the idea that Madeline may have created the 'monster' that led to her downfall, so to speak. Watching your vids always leaves me longing to rewatch canon because I get all nostalgic. Then I remember season four and change my mind. Lol.
I'll admit, 'maternal' Madeline of season one, I've always hands-waved as being an act. I always assumed that a 'mother' was what Nikita needed, and she showed enough potential that Madeline thought she was worth the effort, and then somewhere along the way, Madeline took off the kid gloves, maybe after deciding that Nikita wasn't living up to her potential, or maybe just that she felt it was time for her to START living up to it. ...Or maybe they just got different writers. Lol.
I'm terribly sorry that I'm really late in responding to you, but thank you so much for the great comment!!
HEE! LFN S4 is like the anti-Netflix. It stops you from even thinking about diving back into the show!! I like "Sleeping with the Enemy" and "No One Lives Forever," but the rest of it is more miss than hit.
...Or maybe they just got different writers
Loooooooooooooooooooool!
I tend to agree with you that Madeline saw playing the mother as a way to tap into Nikita's own abandonment issues and create a way to control Nikita.
