rohan is 5 months and a couple days. it's time for an update! let's see...

he can:

• sit up with support
• reach out and grab things when i'm not looking (luckily his speedy little arms are still t. rex short, ha!)
• swing in the toddler swing at the playground
• rotate around his exersaucer pretty easily
• take his bucket hat off his head and chew on it

bread: german pumpernickel except i didn't have anise or fennel... so it was cumin seeds, coriander, poppy and sesame... did a 2 lb delay cycle and it was nice this morning. not light and fluffy, and about 3/4 of the pan. next time i'm gonna throw in some flax seeds, curry powder ( Read more... )

at four months (and a bit now) rohan:

• doesn't look like ET as much. must be the eyebrows.
• weighted 16 lbs. 2 oz. **sixteen pounds**
• has so many chins that you can't see most of them, and you certainly can't see his neck
• has symmetrical fat rolls on his thighs (and wrists, etc)
• rubs his eyes when he's sleepy, and doesn't gouge them with his razor sharp ( Read more... )

oakie went to an alum event tonight. he ran into someone who had their eldest child in montessori school. age 2. their youngest was interviewing. age 15 months. apparently they ask them to do things like pour water from cup to cup and carry things around on a tray. anyway, interviews? for school? at 15 months? yikes ( Read more... )

let's see. rohan went to sleep ~ 10 pm, woke up at midnight, nursed, slept, woke up at 3 am, nursed, slept, woke up, nursed, and poo'd. this meant: diaper change at 4 am. i usually change his diapers at 3 or 4 am anyway but last night was extra fun. we went into the nursery, and it went down like this ( Read more... )

things he can do now that he couldn't before:

• tears when he cries. poor thing. streams of tears come out of his eyes now.
• drool. lots and lots of drool.
  
• smile. he smiles at me about 5 times a day. it's not very much, but definite toothless smiles.
• laugh. he laughed once, for the first time yesterday. hope he laughs more often (as opposed to crying).

it rained a ton last night. that, along with the warm temps we've been having, makes me think spring. i moved my pots of dead, semi-dead plants out of the living room, and ordered some seeds today ( Read more... )

it seems as though everyone is praying for me. since i might be getting a c-section, my mom emailed the entire family and told them to pray for me. oakie's mom says she's been thinking about me, going to church, and praying for me too. it's a little strange to know that there are people out there praying for me. i guess i appreciate it, but since i ( Read more... )

connie and cathy came to visit this weekend. i miss hanging out with my sisters, so even though it was just a short visit, it was really great. we watched movies, went for lots of tasty chinese food in flushing [soymilk, dumplings, steamed dumplings, porridge, tea, baked goods-- can't wait to go back post-gestational-diabetes!], shopped for some ( Read more... )
