I didn't read your wikipedia link, but the word that applies here is "transvestite." That would be wearing clothing that is generally associated with the opposite (of your biological) sex. People can see what you are wearing. How you preceive yourself may not be as readily apparent.
i don't consider your dressing up to be gender-bending.jsl32August 13 2006, 01:19:19 UTC
if only because there is a fine and long historical tradition of men doing such. current american culture doesn't really run that way, but it's not unmanly at all, in the greater historical sense.
as for anything more, i think gender is relevant and i think you underestimate gender in thinking it is socially repressive that girls don't code more. about 1 percent of girls really really want to, and about 10 percent of guys. small amounts in both cases, and neither amount would be much larger if society were more accepting. women and men are very different and this is a-ok by me, especially when coded in society in healthy ways. i will say not all the ways we code gender are healthy, definitely.
Good for you, Sammy! I don't think transgenderism applies to you, as you're not really identifying yourself with the opposite gender. The word I would use for you is androgynous. I don't really care for the wikipedia explanation of androgyny that much, so I'll let you explore the term on it's own.
I really wish the world would stop looking at gender and just look at sex instead. Sex is the physical characteristics of your body, i.e. penis or vagina. Knowing the sex of a person could be important for medical research, demographics, population studies, etc....However, it's much harder for me to think of why gender is important other than identifying what pronoun to use when addressing the person. Gender is just a word to describe sterotypes.
Unfortunatly, gender is pressed upon infants from the moment they entire the world as part of their identity, although it is getting better I do believe it will be a long, long time before there is no longer a disparity between "boy stuff" and "girl stuff".
sammy i don't think your transgender you don't wanna vagina you just look nice in dresses and i don't think you're confused you're just prettier than most boys
