Caroline/Elena/Bonnie

Oh, this is a twisted sisterhood, worth the blood and the tears and not a thing more

They are not the friends they used to be.

Bonnie used to be the nice one, bubbly and happy and sweet. She’s cold now and hard around the eyes. Half the time, Caroline doesn’t know what to say to her, if Bonnie is looking at her and seeing only vampire, and not Caroline; if maybe she should only see vampire and nothing more. She scares Caroline, just a bit. Maybe it’s fair, because Caroline scares Bonnie, too, but it’s not the same; Bonnie can bring people to their knees, make them scream in agony, and set them on fire, all without moving a muscle. Caroline can’t do that.

But Caroline is different, too-she has blood on her hands now, lips and mouth stained red and dangerous. Elena says, it’s okay, it was a mistake. An accident. Or, you saved us, don’t feel bad. Stefan says, it happens to everyone. You can control yourself now, you’re learning. Damon says, it’ll happen again. Even if you go fifty years without feeding on a person, you’ll kill again. Get used to it.She tries hard not to think about it, but sometimes, when she hasn’t ( ... )

They weren’t meant for this, none of them.

They were all cheerleaders, once upon a time-smiling and happy and bright as the sun. Now they are vampire and witch and doppelganger. Now it’s fighting every day and crying and pain, while all of Caroline’s friends start to look unfamiliar and the lines have grown murky and blurred. There is no reaching back to the innocence; there is no going back in time. Blood and tears stain them all.

But some things stay the same-some things have to stay the same. Caroline will not let them all fall to pieces.

After all, they’re all going to be sacrificed if Klaus finds Elena. They’re all in this together.

After Elena’s parents died, Bonnie and Caroline came to see her. Elena didn’t say anything for days (it felt like longer), speaking in only the simplest of phrases, her eyes vacillating between empty and red and teary-eyed. It was almost as if she’d died as well and it broke Caroline’s heart ( ... )

Amazing.

They are not the friends they used to be.

This is the best opener I've read to date. It's so true and so vital to what they've become.

She scares Caroline, just a bit. Maybe it’s fair, because Caroline scares Bonnie, too,

God, this breaks my heart a little. I remember last season when these two were so close and now they don't know how to be around one another. It's terrifying that they're scared of one another considering everything they've gone through together.

Sometimes, when it occurs to her that she’ll have to leave home in fewer ten years, because she’s a fucking vampire and everyone will notice she’s not aging, she wants to scream.

Poor Caroline-that has to be on her mind a whole lot these days.

No one knows the Golden Girl has a price on her head, a ticking clock that counts away the days

Best description of Elena's new worldview to date.

After all, they’re all going to be sacrificed if Klaus finds Elena. They’re all in this together. And that's the real scary part-they'll even be together in death and ( ... )

Caroline/Damon

A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave.
