There is so much interesting information about mountaineering and about Everest in Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air, but I could not get past the fundamental knowledge that, unlike the dangers that have long accompanied, say, whaling ships or scientific research in remote areas, the dangers accompanying Mount Everest are totally avoidable.
