starting over

So, there are only 11 weeks left till Brittany's wedding. Even though the number isn't as important as how the clothes fit, I need to lose about 3 lbs a week to be my "ideal" weight. I would like to be close to what I was when I graduated HS. I know that getting me back there may be a stretch, but as close as I can get it will be nice. Once I'm ( Read more... )

Losing 3 lbs a week is a really aggressive goal. They say you can only lose 2 lbs per week healthfully.

Plus, your body isn't a machine, and there will be weeks where, even though you've stuck to your diet and exercise regime, you'll stagnate and wont' lose weight.

I think if your goal was to lose 20 lbs by the wedding, it would be quite aggressive, but more realistic.

I think it's wonderful, though, that you are trying to be healthier. I myself am working on similar weight loss (similar high weight to similar goal weight), but I don't expect to reach my goal until August or September.

you're right. it is a little extreme. but it's not really my "goal". just my ideal weight. I actually don't think it would be very healthy of me to drop 30-40 lbs. its just something I would LOVE to look like again.

all I really need to lose is about 5-10 lbs to fit perfectly into the dress. and THAT is totally achievable.

I just dream big.

congrats on being healthier! that's the BEST thing you can do for yourself, it's amazing how everything in your life picks up and is easier when you treat your body well. In regards to your food, I have found that one of the best things to do is just remember that you are what you eat. Even if you aren't eating cookies and junk, there is still a lot of prepared food out there that has hidden ingredients or just isn't prepared as healthy as it could be. Making healthy food for yourself can be time consuming, but it really is the healthiest thing you can do. Easy recipes that we have found can be anything from a quick stir-fry to spaghetti, veggie burritos, and don't forget the Tofu! It's really easy to make /prepare and it's filled with nutritional goodies. You might even want to try finding some quick recipes online so you can prepare lunch meals for work. These past couple years I've been making healthy living a big part of my life, so if you've got any questions on food dishes or whatever feel free to hit a brother up.

but tofu burritos? that just sounds weird. but it's also something Ive never tried. while I'm still here at work, I can pretty much do anything. When I go into my externship, I don't know what my lunch situation will look like(hour lunch or just 1/2). but yes, I'm all about finding stuff for work so I don't go out and eat "crap" cuz I'm strapped for time. I would love to not eat any processed food anymore, but money is an issue. a HUGE issue. I'll be out of work for about 3 months doing school (externship doesnt pay. only interns do). but thanks again.

yeah, the money issue sucks big time. do you still live in santa clarita? if so, you should check out the farmer's market on sunday mornings at COC. they always have a great selection of fresh veggies and fruit. There are several key issues with tofu, depending on personal tastes. However, ANY type of seasoning or spice that you want to throw into/on it works. You can make just about any meal with it and it's one of the healthiest things you can put into your body.

I already have. That's what started this kick. I knew it was gonna be a lot harder if I didnt start with a cleanse. I only did it for 5 days, cuz I wasn't doing it to lose weight, only to flush the system and kinda start over.

I've really been doing this all for a few weeks. I just never posted it publicly before cuz I didn't want the criticism of people who don't agree with it. now it's done, and I'm still alive and totally fine, so no one can really say much.

but ya, it's about time I do something good for myself and finally start watching what I eat. Going out of town is a little hard. But I discovered I like salmon this weekend. So that's good!
