how did 23andme.com find you in the first place?
Do you think it was the link you put in your previous post?

I'm assuming there's some way to search for or monitor for certain terms coming up in posts. I've heard of companies doing this with Twitter (Comcast is known to do this.)

I thought LJ broke and then never fixed their full-text search awhile ago, and Google's blog search doesn't seem to be indexing my lj, so I'm not sure where you'd actually do it.

That's gotta be wrong: there's no way it was scanned in Memphis and then scanned 47 mins later in Oakland.

Well, it's Central Time, so that's +2 hours... 2 hours and 47 minutes seems short for a flight that distance though (I tried to verify that on kayak.com, but there's no direct flights from bay area airports to memphis at all.) BUT, it does closely match the flight time out to Memphis, assuming they're using local time in the tracking information rather than a single time zone.

Then it COULD be, maybe got thrown in the wrong pile and took a detour to Memphis. There may not be any direct commercial flights, but perhaps the FEDEX plane has a direct flight from Memphis to Oakland.

A quick google search finds this:

There are direct FDX flights from Memphis to Oakland!

Why this happens cwanders December 22 2008, 23:02:29 UTC
The sort facility for FedEx is in Memphis, all their express packages have to go through there, granted this seems stupid to send yours there, but it is very rare that this would happen so changing their entire process for a tiny number of packages would cost more than just sending it though the normal process. The flights were going anyways, so it is no additional cost to send yours that way.

And about carbon credits, its OK we need some global warming up here in Minnesota - since it clearly hasn't found us yet ;-P
