1. It's been raining so hard all day today that I can barely see out the window. So obviously I am taking advantage of the fact that I don't have to leave the house and am watching The Adventures of Tintin (the animated series) and planning this summer's trip to California. If anyone has suggestions for hotels in San Francisco and/or Los Angeles, ( Read more... )

The Artist was wonderful, wasn't it?

I LOVE HIM. OMG the entire original ST cast is fabulous. I hope the reboot cast will turn out to be just as amazing when they grow old.

That's a lot of fab films.

I want to see The Artist and The Ides of March. I chose Hugo when we last went out and had to agree (my partner and I are competitive about films, and somehow don't get out that much) it was the wrong choice - I found it pretty un-engaging on the whole. I just thought it would be better in a cinema (for the 3D) and that we can watch the Artist at home on DVD.

Hallam Foe on the other hand is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I like to think it's the rooftops and the melancholy that I love it for...

I haven't seen Hugo (I'm kinda bitter that it seems to have gotten far more attention, especially in the US, than Tintin did lol), but considering that it is a 3D movie I too would think that it looks better in a cinema than on DVD. The Artist is stunning whether you watch in a cinema or at home though, and I am convinced that it is a better film than Hugo :)

Hahah I love EVERYTHING about Hallam Foe. Obviously I appreciate the scenes where Jamie is naked, but I also adore the rooftops scenes and basically just every single scene in the film :DD

As someone who lives near The City, I . . . can’t give you any hotel recs. I do remember my ex-bf saying something about wanting to try out The Mosser but he hasn’t flown to SF since talking about that. I do know that I like Annabelle’s bar/bistro downstairs from the hotel.

Um . . . The Mosser is within a few blocks of Samovar, that east-west fusion tea lounge I rec’d. That’s all I can say about it.

Hahah no worries, I don't think I would be able to rec hotels in my city either! I'll check out The Mosser; if it's situated close to a great bar/bistro as well as a tea lounge, that sounds very promising indeed :)

(((HUGS YOU BACK)))

I know this will never work, for a variety of reasons, but I would totes marry George Takei. HOW DID HE BECOME SO AWESOME. WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN.

I would totes marry him too! Also I kinda want to *be* him. I THINK HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN AWESOME. IT WAS JUST HARDER TO TELL WHEN SHATNER WAS HOGGING THE SPOTLIGHT (I adore Shatner but he has a rather forceful personality)

YOU MAKE AN EXCELLENT POINT.

It's probably for the best: let Shatner get all the attention, so Takei an Nimoy can be awesome in peace :D

(it would be awesome to be that confident, wouldn't it?)

(I would give A LOT to have that kind of confidence. I would also love to have some of his charisma tbh)
