Wonderful! I, of course, hate the idea of Annie tumbling back into addiction, but this was just so beautifully done that... wow. Your Jeff was particularly real to me here.

And this line = <3 : ...because Jeff Winger was full of good intentions that night and sometimes even the road to Hell still needed to be traveled

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I don't know, I felt like someone should turn a critical eye on one of Annie's few dark aspects. They mentioned it rather casually, but in terms of sweet optimistic Annie I always felt it was like a dirty little secret that no one brings up.

I kinda adore broken!Annie and hero!Jeff. I like the idea that he'd care enough to do something about it.

Sorry, I noticed I didn't comment on the actual story post.
I know what you mean, actually! Annie is a recovering drug addict, Abed feels isolated from his inability to connect with people and past of being bullied (plus missing mother). These are actual pretty serious problems in these characters past.
I'm most interested in seeing something written about Jeff because he mentioned being insulted and abused by his father and his parents splitting up, so if you want to over-analyze (which I do lol) you can say the darker aspects of Jeff's personality comes from that. It might be interesting to see if someone could pull that off in writing (i would try myself but i'm pretty busy these days >>;;)

...you are not allowed to give me plot!bunnies of dark!Jeff. I think we all know Jeff has a dark side, it's very evident sometimes in the things he does. Between his selfish nature, his jealousy...

Damnit, I think YOU GAVE ME A PLOT BUNNY.

Good story. I like how Jeff has clearly done his homework about the effects of Adderal (is that true, about libido?) and the round-the-clock availability of 12-step programs.

Also, I love how enthusiastically J/A fandom has adopted Rich as our go-to villain. He's so much more effective a foe than Vaughn ever was.

Wikipedia is my friend, and according to my friend the libido fact is true. I was amused by that, and I wasn't even going to use it...but then it's Jeff and I couldn't resist throwing it in there.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I do appreciate knowing that people like what I write!

(Also, I KINDA FELT BAD USING RICH AS THE VILLAIN. I was contemplating using Starburns as her dealer, just...well...he's Starburns. Any man with star-shaped sideburns is clearly on something. Then I decided Rich was better because he was a doctor and clearly had a thing for Annie.)

By the way, you should post a link to this in milady_milord. I think probably everyone who reads that probably reads community_tv too, but who can say?

An excellent suggestion! I think I will!

I liked this a lot <3. Don't worry too much about the tone being too serious or whatever - I doubt there's any really funny way to portray an addict having a relapse, but it's an accepted part of Annie's personality that she could, so... since it's unlikely the show would ever go there (maybe not impossible) stories like this might be our only way to see it explored.

Thanks! I really was worried about how dark I took it given the nature of the show, but I'm suitably reassured. This is what fanfic is for, after all, exploring the things the real shows won't. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed this. Addiction is such a difficult thing to fully escape and I so appreciate fics that try and address that, which you do very well. I particularly liked the whole line: Her heart-warming naiveté was nowhere in evidence as she stood there, and in that moment he didn't see the young woman he'd spent so much of his energy struggling to stay away from. For that moment she was somber and serious and he felt closer to her than he ever had before.

Thanks! I'm glad you like. I was trying to be as realistic as possible, but was worried that the general tone of the show was too light and people wouldn't like this. I'm happy to say I was wrong, though.
