I KNOW RIGHT. I did not even mention the scruffyness but YES. John Simm just looked gorgeous! I NEED CHRISTMAS TO COME VERY EARLY PLEASE. I don't think I can wait this long for all of this awesome.
Really great episode. So much better than the Next Doctor and Planet of the Dead. It felt like a proper Who episode again. Maybe because it is the start of a story and we know what's coming next and that makes it even more exciting! And sad.
Yes, that's definitely it. I know RTD said that he needed a human companion to keep him grounded, but this is where we saw that he really needs someone to stop him, as Donna said in the Runaway Bride. If no one stops him, he just goes on and really thinks he can do anything because he is the last Time Lord and is the one in charge of everything in time. David Tennant really played this brilliantly.
Yeah. You can see that he needs a human companion. He gone far too long w/o a human companion. So now he is becoming dark and doing whatever he wants. David did!
Sadly no. But she's definitely in one of David's last episodes, either in the Christmas one or the New Years one :)
I just had the feeling at the end of the episode, the Doctor was like screw it all, screw the timelines and everything, I'm going against everything I used to believe in and go back in time to see Rose one last time before I die. But that's just something I think. I have no idea how they're going to get Rose into the last episodes.
The Doctor was scaring the CRAP out of me at the end. He was completely unhinged. This is what happens when there are no companions! There's no one to stop him.
I know right? I was like What the hell? when Adelaide said 'No one should have that much power' and Ten was like 'I'm a winner!' And the Time Lord Victorious line was so not Ten. I didn't know what to think and it was scary, because that was not the Ten we've come to know and love.
I kept thinking this would never happen if Rose, Martha or Donna were with him, but I guess this is what happens when he doesn't have a companion to keep him 'down to earth'. And yes, it scared the crap out of me too!

Seriously though, this episode took my mind, played with it, and then jumped up and down on it with glee.

"I've got the TARDIS. Same old life, last of the Time Lords."
There's just so much emotion in that one sentence and it was just really sad for some reason for me. Brings back that Bad Wolf Bay scene.
