Dear Friends of Colin:
It has been 6 months since Colin passed away and I am not sure how many of you still have Colin in your friends list.  However, I hope a few of you remain connected since I want to tell you how much you all meant to Colin and me during the brief time he kept his blog.   You were his link to the larger world outside of his room ( Read more... )

Thank you for this info...I wish I could be in Oregon for the event. I think about Colin all the time. I've also been meaning to tell you that I have a tape of Colin that I am planning on passing onto Cory (I have forgotten to tell Cory as well, but he's coming to visit tomorrow so I'll talk to him then). It's that short pre-interview I did when I thought I'd be making a documentary about Colin. I'm going to try to burn it to DVD so you have it. I should have passed it on earlier but I was in Prague and it was back in DC.

All my love,

Andrea

I don't know if you saw my recent post. It seemed to coincide with yours the other evening. I am touched by your family's closeness and devotion, the loyalty and love of your friends, and the grace with which Colin carried himself.

Sharing his life and memory truly makes the world a sweeter place. Thank you for this generosity.

Many Blessings,
Mindy Cowan

Colin was a precious gift to us in the AAC and disability community. He used his time to enrich himself and educate others. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the impact of his life on our community. My daughter passed away a year ago today, just five months after our son died and Colin was a true friend offering comfort an d support.

We cannot financially support the effort, but will spread the word and ask for others to honor Colin's memory. Thank you for the reminder!

Colin will always be on my friend's list. He was such an important part of me coping with my mother's ALS. I walk every year at the ALS walk in Phoenix, and I walk for my mom AND for Colin.

Dear Laurie,

Colin will always be on my friends list as well. His insights were invaluable to me. Both before and after my father passed away due to ALS, he helped me to understand so many things about what my dad was going through and about what I was feeling. He was a true friend, and I miss him very much.

Please let me know how I can donate to your walk effort. I may not be able to give much, but I would like to help. My fiance and I were "virtual walkers" in the Westchester County, NY, Walk to D'Feet ALS. I hope that we will be able to participate in the actual walk next year.

Love to you and your family,
Alexis

Dear Alexis:
You have already done so much for Colin and our family and I am truly grateful. It is wonderful that you are involved with the ALS Association in NY and I hope you have a chance to participate in the actual walk next year. If the NY event is anything like ours, it is an uplifting and inspiring day.

If you want to see how things are going with our walk, you can log into the Colin's Friends link at:

Of course, I will be extremely thankful for any donation that you make to the ALS Assoc in Colin's name. The address here is:
ALS Association of Oregon and SW Washington
310 SW Fourth Ave., Suite 630
Portland, OR 97204

Best Wishes to you and your family
Laurie
