I don't blame you a BIT for quitting temping. It's usually very soul-sucking work, and I remember thinking the same things you are when I was temping: surely standing around behind a cash register wearing jeans and a t-shirt would be better than this.
The only drawback is the pay tradeoff -- 11 bucks an hour to sit behind a desk answering phones vs. 7 bucks an hour to stand behind a cash register. That's what kept me in the temping business for so long.
