See here is the thing:

I don't believe the military was a step in the wrong direction in terms of you becoming something more. Rather, it was just a step backward in your social life. What irks me a bit is that you shouldn't really worry about that. Yeah, sure. The weekends will blow hard for the next couple weeks or so, but you have learned a lot in the past few years. You make it sound like a waste of your time, which it really wasn't. If anything, you seem a hell of a lot more acceptable in society.

You're V, if people can't hang with you, or don't want to, it was probably for a good reason. So, good riddance to them.
