Aw Kara, the daughter Bill always wanted. Sigh. And her frigging bad ass background. Love the imagery of her in the woods in her father's shirt with her hair hacked off, just hanging out till she's 12. <3

It's hard for me to get a real feel for Lee here (or what Kara even thinks of him), he's so quiet! But I love that he volunteered, and like punched out his siblings so they wouldn't go up there. LEE IS KATNISS, LOL (Although god, now I'm really afraid for him EVEN MORE.) Ellen and Saul as Effie and Haymitch are inspired! And Tory as Johanna, ha ha.

Intrigued by the gift of Through the Looking Glass! Nice to pick up that thread of Bill giving Laura books in canon with this. I do wonder what Laura is up to. Is Through the Looking Glass the equivalent of a mockingjay pin here? Interesting....

But oh my bbs, Lee and Kara, eek! I'm so SCAAAARED FOR THEM.

It is not all Darkness and Doom at the End of the Worlds! I'm glad you like the bit about Kara and Daniel. We had last minute panics, wondering if our universe and world-building had gotten too out of control.

I'm glad you like Ellen and Saul in their roles! I think one of my favorite parts of this series was when we got to find places for the characters within the HG universe. Lee is totally Katniss! More gender-swapping mashups! (Btw, I will be commenting on your Ice!Pilots ASAP! Damn work for interrupting internets!)

Don't worry about Lee and Kara just yet. We've got a long way to go with those two yet...

Oh..... wow. I love this. I LOVE it. Spot-on characterisation (poor Kara, always on the fringes), and some lovely LOL moments. Well, they made me laugh, but possibly that was not your intention! I love Laura using the 'right thing not smart thing' comment in this context, but comparing Lee to herself. We never see a young Laura in canon, and given the similarities between her and Lee, I find the idea that as a girl she'd have gone for right and not smart very, VERY plausible. Especially in this universe.

And Billy. *squee* You're not gonna kill Billy, are you? Are you?!!

Oh, thanks to this I um accidentally-done-on-purpose found the Hunger Games trilogy on the Android market. They're part of my reading list for when I depart on a ten day cruise in a week's time; just so that I really GET where this fic is coming from.

I'm so excited about this fic! The Hunger Games trilogy has so much crossover potential and I love what you guys are doing with it. The parallels you've drawn, even in just this first chapter, are so apt - Saul/Haymitch, Ellie/Effie, Cavil/Snow, etc. I love the elements of the BSG-verse that you've brought into this world (besides the characters, obviously), especially Kara's backstory. I can't wait to see what comes next! I'm looking forward to learning more about Laura's time in the arena. I can already tell that this is going to be heartbreaking - in the original book all of the action is centered in the arena, and the idea of getting to see Laura, Bill, Zak, and Lee on the outside looking in has so much potential. Thanks so much for this fabulous first installment!

Oh, I'm so, so pleased that you like this so far. We put a lot of love into this baby (er, love? Is that the right word? Perhaps it should be malice or evil or one of the many other things that maybe are less nice than love), so its great to hear that there are parts of it you really liked.

As for the heartbreak in and out of the Arena...I think you'll be curious to see what comes next for our protagonists. The drama is not NEARLY over.
