For the first time since I've been here, I'm happy to be alone. I just sat in the quad the other day and people watched yesterday. It was the first day this semester when it's broken 50 degrees and there was no snow whatsoever. I noticed that there are two major stereotypes at this school, that 98% of the student population fits into. You're ( Read more... )

It's bad for everyone. This lady came in to talk to us about her being one of the first African Americans to go to a desegregated school in New Orleans. She said that people threw rocks at her and any horrible thing that they could. During the whole presentation, this asian girl (Vi Tran) was doing homework and being completely disrespectful. When I addressed her about it, her reply was, "this is a black/white thing", and I was like, "no bitch, this is an everyone thing. this lady fought so that everyone could go to the same school. being asian does not make you an exception.". Like really, doesn't she know that asians had it just as bad as everyone else? but that's the problem; she doesn't know anything about her own history. we need to educate our youth.

we're actually learning about the asians in american history now. i honestly didn't know until now because no one talks about it unfortunately. all american immigrants had a problem when in reality white people were the immigrants. that's what annoys me.

jenn, you rock.

i miss being surrounded by thoughtful people.

i also think something should be said about white boys who use the word 'nigga' all the fucking time. it's one of the most derogatory terms out there, and i don't care who you are, black/white/asian/latino/whatever, it's not ok to use it.

right after I made this post, Iwent to my world geography class and I was hit with another super dose of ignorance. pretty much everyone in our class was talking about how immigration "destroys our country". I tried so hard to fight it, but I was so outnumbered by these stupid rich ass bitches. I almost started crying. Not because I'm upset with them, but because I'm upset that I have to be surrounded by the ignorance 24/7. I hate it here so much, kat. I miss you guys and our intelligent conversations and being real.

you said syracuse is majority jewish?

do those people remember a little thing called the holocaust? had einstein and other famous scientists not immigrated to the US, they could have been taken as prisoners by the nazis, and it could have been germany dropping an atomic bomb on us.

i wish people would think before opening their mouths.

you are a beast of social cognition dearest jennifer. i'm in ap us history right now at country day and it's making me realize a lot of shit about people and things of this nature and the liberal progression of humanity. it's amazing because it's basically the most important stuff we can learn since it is us.
