I think... I think you'll be fine. I mean, if anyone can handle this, it's you.

She's four, doesn't say a word, and her mother swears she passed that stage a long time ago.

And the advice of the video still holds true.

Mitsuko was going to be my fiancee. We wanted kids, but not for a while. She was on the pill, as sleeping with the woman you were about to ask to marry with condoms is kind of a lack of trust there.

Besides, they fail too.

Yukimura-san, I've just thought of something! Sorry to start a new thread ^_^;; but if your ex-girlfriend was in America - is it possible that your little girl's not speaking because her Japanese isn't all that good?

Mitsuko spoke Japanese and English to Naoki...she's supposed to be bilingual. She spoke well to Teiji and Genichirou, but I'm wondering if it's because it's simply things she picked up.

Interesting, Yumiko-chan. I'm fluent in English, maybe I should try that.

Do, it could be a case of her being more comfortable with one language rather than another. If she spoke Japanese to no-one but her mother in America it may mean she'll only speak it to someone she's comfortable with. Teiji's her age and Genichirou's the kind of big, gruff person children go WOW over, so they have a little advantage over you in that respect =P

I'm sure she'll either pick it up, or speak it to you eventually, Yukimura-san.

...Just a suggestion, but you could probably start with not calling her an "it".

Have we met?

And it was a longstanding joke that any child I fathered would be inhuman, therefore the "it". But yes, I know Naoki is a girl. And a shy one.

Not yet, though I imagine we will eventually.

Anyway, I apologize. It's just, I work with kids, and I kind of hear their parents refer to them as "it"s in a serious manner sometimes. Personal button, s'all.
