I've been thinking a lot of about the phenomenon of Dean/Castiel versus Wincest... It's so fascinating!

I hate to generalize, but the main impression I'm getting is that Dean/Castiel threatens Wincest so deeply because unlike the canon female love interests, Castiel unsurps Sam's subtextual position at Dean's side. People can write around text easily, but Dean/Castiel is just as subtextual as Wincest, so it's almost like its encroaching the same playground.

Fuck those bitches, I got no time for them. I'm weird atm, I still ship Dean/Castiel but lately I've really been into Wincest too. And I'm totally a Dean!girl too but have always always loved my Sammy. I don't care what other people ship and I'm always respectful of their OTP's. People should just chill the fuck out. You know the weirdest thing? I'm still a strong Dean/Cas fan? But I have SUCH A weakness for Sam/Gabriel, now. I do! It's like a really delicious candybar I can't resist in the store, so I have to grab it. And read it. And giggle like a five year old because for some reason that pairing is so secretly win.

That fandom secrets site is a little scary and very weird. I tend to stay in my safe Dean/Cas waters but I often wonder why people care so much. It's all fantasy anyway and why can't everyone just go with whatever floats their boat.

I literally stumbled unto it because I was following a friend's post, because sometimes when I wander I find awesome things. I did not find awesome things. I thought I did? And then I realized they were not as awesome. Grr.

OMG, fandomsecrets is just...rife with LOLZ all the time, especially in the SPN department. And I'm with you! I know I'm late to the party and only just got into the show this year, but really, Sam is exactly the sort of guy I love IRL and I've loved Jared since "Gilmore Girls" (even though his character turned into an inescapable douche), and I love how he's all conflicted and has a "saving-people-thing" like Harry Potter and...yeah, gotta love him. (But Dean/Cas...my God. I was watching parts of "Lucifer Rising" last night and their relationship is just so intense and awesome and...AAHHH. Love it too.)

So basically, IA. I don't think they're at all mutually exclusive.
