I've never had Stash teas so I can't comment on that but I really don't like Tazo. It seems like they mix all of their flavors up to appeal to non-tea drinkers. For example, their green tea has other things in it like peppermint. They don't have just a basic green tea. Someone gave me a bunch of their teas for Christmas. I managed to use all of the Green and the Awake, but the Calm was horrendous and I gave them all away.
What about China Green Tips? The one with peppermint (or is it spearmint?)is Zen if I am not mistaken.
What I like about Tazo is that they understand fusion. I am an adventurous tea drinker... I mix different teas together anyway for flavor combinations I think would be pleasing.
Stash makes a great base tea. I love their Licorice Spice.
But really... I think I prefer, if it isn't going to be a loose tea, Yogi Tea, Traditional Medicinals, Triple Leaf... but that's because it's winter and I mostly drink medicinals during the winter.
See, this was difficult, because on average, I choose neither. I keep a few loose teas from The TeaSource at my desk and a lot of loose leaf teas at home from various places. If I'm in a place that doesn't have loose leaf teas, around here, they're more likely to have bigelow than stash or tazo and in any case, if I have to drink a bagged tea, I usually stick to peppermint herbals, since they don't normally taste like old socks.
But if I absolutely had to choose between Stash and Tazo, I think I'd lean towards Tazo because I drank it in college and didn't absolutely hate it.
tazo only made one flavor i ever liked and it was only seasonal. i haven't had much stash, but what i've had, i've liked and i just ordered some loose tea from them. they seem to have a nice variety of loose teas and aren't as expensive as, say, teavanna (which i am biased against for not real reason other than a friend was a manager there and while he loved the teas, even he admitted they were over-priced and didn't treat employees well).
now that i hear starbucks owns tazo, there's all the more reason to dislike them. i'm a big black tea drinker and tazo just doesn't do it for me in that area.
I don't have Stash where I am (in Canada) and don't like buying a lot online. That said, I only like Tazo's Awake, Joy, and Chai. The rest I can happily do without. :)
Neat coincidence - I lived in London for two years (I'm in Calgary now.) Have you tried Loblaws or other grocery stores? I usually saw it there.
Just curious: do you shop for tea at the Tea Haus in Covent Garden Market? I love that place. There was another nice store just next to the Market, but I can't remember the name...

Tazo is ok sometimes. Depends on the flavor I guess. Passion is really good. And Green Ginger? incredibly delicious. Most of the rest are mleh.
I like Numi too, what about them?
