let's just say, hypothetically, i'm interested in buying a car. what would your suggestion be, hypothetically?

i only drive in the city and would probably do less than 10k miles per year, if that helps.

Well, that leaves out a lot of potential factors.

Missing:

How many people might you need to carry?

What quantity and type of stuff might you need to carry in/on your car?

How far might you need to drive between a given Point A and Point B? (Relevant for electric or hydrogen, below.)

Probably safe to assume gasoline as the motive force, though diesel, E85, hydrogen, or electric might be viable, depending on local availability.

What cost range?

What age of vehicle? Brand new, or are older models acceptable?

What are your parking options (at home and work)?

everything is pretty much variable. i'd like the option of 4 people, but i could buy a coupe no problem. i have the feeling that electric while nice in principle would limit my driving too much since i'm thinking about buying a lake house at some point reletively far away (25-50 miles ish).

gasoline prices don't particularly matter to me since i would be driving so little, but i'm not certain i'm willing to put myself on a wait list for a hybrid/hydrogen, diesel rig. likewise, as long it's not some fucking wanker 100k car, price is a flexible factor.

what i'm really looking for scott, is cars that people like and are fun. i'm not shopping for a car. i'm just thinking about shopping for a car.

i test drove a mini about a year ago when i first moved up here. it's not really a care for short people, everything is at asshole level.
