left handed help sought

Oct 18, 2014 19:07

Hey, calling all left hand dominant people. It is apparent that my nephew is left- handed. None of us are left-handed and we want to know what are the things we should get for him. What do you remember bugging you when you were little? Scissors are obvious but what else? Anyone have a good book on teaching good penmanship?

Most mice are ambidextrous these cays (maybe not specialised ones). I switch from one hand to the otherother all the time for that.

I'm going by our 5-button mouse... the thumb buttons are handy for some stuff.

Other than lefty scissors, there wasn't much that was particular to being left-handed as far as gear. Well, once you get into sports-gear, it may matter... right vs left baseball glove, for example.

Also, does anyone really need to learn good penmanship these days? Hell, I never learned GOOD penmanship, mine is, at best, only moderately unacceptable.

What bugged me most was intangible stuff like being taught "your right hand is the hand you write with! See, it is easy to tell left from right!" Also Mugs and things that are branded/printed are inevitably marked assuming that a rightie will be using/holding them ( ... )
