San Francisco is not more or less wonderful than any other place. Take it from me: any place is what you make of it. I grew up here but I don't know too much about San Francisco due to a very sheltered family life. I've been very happy with the neighborhoods in which I grew up, but they're pretty quiet, so my impression of San Francisco is that it doesn't live up to the hype. On top of that, I'm stuck at home all the time looking for a job, and San Francisco is just not providing in that department, so my impression of my hometown sours by the minute ( ... )

I agree with that. I don't think my friends' realities are going to live up to their fantasies. But it's like whatever, they have their perceptions and they move and I'm here. And now they're there, and you're there ! Life :(

I ain't ever seen no magical places. I've met some pretty magical people, though, and watched them run off after this city or that. It was hard but I made do with some of my own magic. Hold fast.
