A moment of reflection

You, know I really begin to wonder if this world is worth saving when people make comments like:

"I can think of many ways to die that worse than smoke inhalation and jumping out of a building." [in relation to 9-11]Ah, fuck you. It's amazing how arrogant and callous people can be. This individual actually supposes to comprehend what it's like to ( Read more... )

I could not agree more. I was going to go back again this year, but I didn't. I went last year to the memorial service to accompany a friend and it was awful. Ridiculous numbers of people gawking, reporters and TV crews everywhere - they couldn't mourn in peace. This year my friend decided not to go and it didn't feel right for me to go seeing as I was lucky and lost only an acquaintance. It was strange though - I was in school when it happened, we had to evacuate and then run once they started collapsing - nothing really hit me until we went back into the school and stood at the same window we watched the second plane hit from. But it brought back "good" memories too...like how people were carrying the girl in the wheelchair down the steps since they didn't want us using the elevators, and then when we all had to run outside, my gym teacher just picked her up out of the chair completely.
This was a good post. :)

I'm not sure if I completely agree with that theory, mainly because it didnt happen at just one time. People were jumping for about a half an hour prior to the South Tower collapsing ( ... )

understandable. i'm no scientist (or new yorker), but i imagine that such a change could reverberate for sometime.

i'm sure those who had time to realize it was hopeless did jump. if nothing more than they don't like 3,000 degree temperature. and i've seen the hand holding picture. it's the worst of thousands of images.

i recently realized how big this was. what's the saying? ''3 deaths is a tragedy, but 3000 deaths is a statistic.'' true, though i think hitler said it. had to sink in.
