Friends

When I was in school, I didn't find my "true" friends till 8th and 9th grade, when I found kinship with the other misfits in my class--girls who were smart and offbeat and considered being called "weird" a compliment. I worry about social isolation my children may feel growing up on the fringe, but I hope they can see that is is ok and that they will find friends. Friends are a hard thing to come by, no matter what the personality, sometimes it takes decades and each person has to do it on their own and in their own time. I'm sure that with the upbringing Max has by the awesome parents that he has, he will make some amazing friends.

Thanks! FWIW Derrick and I still have difficulty making/keeping friends, and I think because of that it's extra important to me that Max have friends... which is one of the main things his brain isn't wired well for. No matter how many reminders I gave him Saturday not to touch his friend or invade her space, he kept getting in her face (and when she asked him to stop, he not only didn't, but hit both her and the girl standing behind them, who was just a random kid at the park we went to). Sigh. (At least he did keep his promise not to kiss her. Apparently he's become quite the kissing bandit on the playground LOL.)
