Why Do Bicycles Hate Me: A mountain biking 101 on Pulau Ubin

I am not afraid of heights; I am not afraid of the open sea. I am afraid of bicycles. Each is a movable pointy, prodding death trap. I have terrors of being run over repeatedly by an imaginary, but vicious, mountain bike and becoming tenderised road-kill. I must also hate myself a great deal because I forked out 30 dollars to learn how to ride one.

Ha ha... Thanks. You adventure race too? There's an eco challenge in Taman Negara from 23rd to 25th March coming up. The Singaporean team's being sponsored by Tourism Malaysia. Would you be interested? I'm looking for 2 more members. www.tamannegaraecochallenge.com

i wouldnt say i race. i've tried racing before, but i'm still a noob. not to mention, crazily unfit right now. eco challenge sounds reallyreally fun (and tiring, just from the kms they listed) but i doubt i'm up to that kind of racing standard at all. and the race day is too soon for me to get enough training done.

you race regularly? i've only done one organised by ACE adventure, and another time during JC, in the relay team category for the AXN race.

Hello... I've only done the one race! Yeah, eco should be nice and challenging. That reminds me - I have to start running. Haven't run much since the Stanchart. Yeah, I heard about the ACE race. Might wanna do that this year. As in the AXN Challenge? Where was this? Was it the one you had to jump off some bridge?

There's no shame in that. I'm sure a lot of people still can't.
