According to my local supermarket, we are shortly to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The coy copywriters at Tesco's have chosen to call itthe 'Year of the Rooster'. What nonsense. Have we become so prudish that we can no longer bring ourselves to call a male chicken by its proper name?

My parents' spaniel, Loki, had to go to the vet because he had a lump on his face. They cut it out, and sent it away for tests, and I am delighted to report that it was benign.
