A Month Later

A month, a whole month. Conrad would have never thought that this curse (blessing?) would last this long, keeping him here in this strange world where everything he was used to was completely turned upside down. Especially with Conrad and Yozak gone… Wolfy’s company was not normal. Fighting, hiding, sneaking, manipulating, that was normal and ( Read more... )

There has been a fair amount of starring since her return. Maybe she has something between her teeth? She stops to peer into a shiny wall sconce that distorts her features as she examines her teeth. Looks pretty normal all things considered. Hmmm...oh, maybe that man will know!

She waves her hand and smiles brightly, moving toward him. "Yoohoo! Hi there!"

..... is she talking to him? Shinou, what did he do to get this attention?

"Yes, my lady?" he asks, turning towards her, and notices at once that she'd not the Lady Julia he's seen around earlier. In fact, she's not even the one he saw around for awhile in the beginning. Greeeeeeat.

"How can I help you?"

She giggles a little at how gentlemanly he is toward her. And kind of cute too~ Ahhh, castle life!

"My name is Suzanna, but you can call me Zan. Everyone does. I was just wondering if something peculiar was going on. I've been getting a lot of weird looks. You'd tell me if I had grown a second head, wouldn't you?" She smiles brightly and swings her travel bag idly in front of her.

Even better, a lunatic. "I can assure you that you have only one head, Lady Zan. But may I be so forward as to ask you a question?" How the hell was he supposed to explain this one? Someone up there really, really hates him.

She hoists the bag off her shoulder. "If you are sure, but I warn you, I pack heavy." She isn't high maintenance. She just lives on the road and needs to carry all her possessions and medical supplies at most times.

She looks through the large windows at the garden he is describing. "Wow, that is odd. I recognize all the flowers, but only one of the names." She laughs a little as if it were some kind of joke she was telling. "Is the Conrad Stands Upon the Earth named after you? Oh, no, I guess it couldn't be if you aren't from here either. So, there are two of you, right? It is named after him?"

She wasn't kidding. What does she carry in here, rock? But he carries it anyway. He's supposed to be playing nice while sending around Alford to do his dirty work. So he can be 'nice' for a few minutes with this woman. "It's not a problem at all, my lady."

He follows Lady Zan to the window to get a better look at the Conrad Stands Upon the Earths that nod gently in the cool breeze. "Yes, there were two. He's away. The flower is named for him. Mine looks the same, but it carries a different title. They were named for us by our respective mothers. She has always liked flowers."

"I've always liked all the colors. It's like planting your own little rainbow. Is blue your favorite color then?" She guesses because of the flower. "It's mine. You can blame the hair. I always have." She finishes with a giggle.

"I don't have a favorite color." Unless food is a color. It's quantity and quality were far more important in his childhood than color. "You know, the Julia here is blind. The one in my world was as well."

"Oh, poor Christine!" She shakes her head gravely. "Well, I am sure this Murata is a lovely person if he is anything like any of the Sage-Maou's I have known."

"I did not know her personally," he says, "But I hear she was a good dancer." Especially if she had a pole to work with.

Now... should he tell her.....

"Actually, you being here has probably caused quite a stir. My world's Lady Julia, and this world's Lady Julia, are dead."

"But you talked about her like she was still..." She can't quite finish the thought aloud. But he did, didn't he? He said she was blind. Maybe he didn't imply more, but wow, this isn't a very good game if that is what it is.
