John had laughed when Sherlock finally found them, not able to help it. By that point, however, his had just been grateful the other man was going back to the patches (he had had to change and wash his sheets to get the smell of smoke out of them after Sherlock had commandeered his bed nearly three nights ago ( ... )

John had listened to the story, brow furrowed and eyes widening a little at the end. He looked at Sherlock and then back at the other man, setting his mug down, "What do you mean it's happened again?"

Adding, "Who's to say it isn't just some stray dog?"

Sherlock groaned. "I'm not taking a case based on a phantom."

"It's not some stray dog! Yes, Sir Charles had a bad heart and yes, he could have had a heart attack, but Sherlock--" He turns back to the pale eyed man. "Sherlock, you have to see the footprints left in the Moors. My God, they're huge."

Sherlock's eyes arch. "John, pack your bags. We're going to Devon."
