i mean let the dead horses lie.

You can do that for a couple'a days, but then you gotta move 'em since then they'll start stinkin'. Yay for apostrophes.

The reasons for growing apart aside, is it a bad thing?

Two of my best friends from say 1st-8th grade moved away for a year, came back, and we had nothing in common. Now we don't even say hi when we walk past each other in the halls. But strangely, there is no bitterness, no animosity, no hard-feelings. And I don't feel really feel any void from not being friends. We were close that was good, we aren't close now and life is just as good.

On the otherhand, one of my closest friends and I rather abruptly stopped speaking. And for a year or so it bothered me every day.

So I don't really have an answer to the question, but the friend I missed so much is now once again a very good friend of mine. So maybe in the end it will all work itself out.

If the connection is there, friendship will prevail, if it isn't there or leaves, then you'll be fine anyway?

Eh, I'm not sure if that's right.
