My refined artifact: Thoughts on its specific analysis

Slight change in plans. I've changed my artifact. I decided that Asian American stereotypes in film and TV shoes was going to be a little too complicated. Another avenue that might be worth exploring, is how Abercrombie and stores similar to them like to sell new shirts that look old and vintage. I'm sure everybody has noticed this- that they try to sell a $30 shirt that looks like something you can get for $1.99 at Value Village. It might be interesting if you could try to decipher the intentions of the company, pertaining to these products. Anyways, I look forward to hearing more about your topic and good luck.

Considering their store atmosphere.... blueriver005 April 18 2005, 17:21:16 UTC
This is an interesting topic, especially since the Abercrombie brand often has such negative connotations (at least among the people I know). But I was also thinking of their store atmosphere. All the workers are very attractive and skinny. Their service is horrible.. I think they even train their workers to be more standoffish. What kind of message are they sending to the consumer? Are they trying to be elitist? Perhaps you can see this message in the ads also- they don't have people of color, larger fit people, older people, etc... this clothing is not for the masses.

Also to note- I despise going into a A&F store (I will not shop there) because of this attitude. And if the workers do not help me, I make their jobs more miserable by messing up the stacks. Sorry to you retail workers...
