Requisite Christmas Bitching

Every year since I was 15 or so, it has taken an extra 12 to 24 hours for me to get excited about the holidays. It's thirteen days before Christmas and I'm still waiting to be really amped for it. Right now the house is about 1/4 cleaned and 1/2 decorated. 99% of the gift shopping is done, 0% of the grocery shopping is done. Nothing is wrapped

i thnk a lot of people are not fully in the christmas spirit just yet, even the people out buying gifts don't see realy excited about the whole prospect

and see, that is the problem. i don't cotten to all that jebus stuff and we already have a little tree wrapped around the bottom with a pale blue linus colored flannel.

for me, it's the music. i love christmas music. and going to church on christmas eve. with a roomful of people with candles in the dark singing Silent Night, as my brothers read along from the hymnal in Navajo, because...they can...

Most years Christmas kind of slides by without me really noticing. I'll wake up one morning and someone will say 'Meryy Christmas!' and I'll stare at them stunned and ask 'When did December happen?'
