I went to go see "Brokeback Mountain," on Saturday with my mom and it was an amazing movie. It was a sad love story between two cowboys in Wyoming. I looked up the movie after seeing it to see what the reviews were like, and the Catholic Church said that the two men in the movie were "scarred." At this day in age I think that its ridiculous! What has been your experience holding your mindframe in terms of homosexuality while attending a Catholic college? Has it ever come up?

The topic of homosexuality has come up sometimes at this college. For instance, I was in a course on Christian marriage and we discussed the way that only man and woman are to be married, and that all other acts are disordered, which I do not hold to be my viewpoint. I wrote an article for my school newspaper that received a lot of backlash about gay priests being allowed into seminaries. It shocked me. Some school officials said that the particular topic wasn't relevant to the Church or the school, which I think is the exact opposite. It is something that happens in every church, that call to priesthood or ministerial work period should be acknowledged without concern to sexual preference. I suppose to that I have bias as well because one of my best friends is gay, as I am beginning to realize that I am too. I know that you are to revel in the love of God, but I don't think that I could live my life "alone." If that makes any sense at all. That movie just brought up all those emotions, because I am a firm believer that love ( ... )
