This cannot be over looked. What are they afraid of? Such and such number of people define marriage as a union between man and woman. Well guess what? THAT DEFINITION NEEDS TO BE UPDATED ( Read more... )

Hello, Civil Union. It's not a marriage in the eyes of the church, but it does give you all the responsibilites and advantages of being married in the EYES OF THE LAW. Marriage was and is a church-based union. If your church does not accept same-gender marriages, then it's simply not a marriage. The only places it has been defined that a marriage is a union between man and woman is in holy books. Not the constitution, not our bill of rights. Simple as that. It's not up to the politicians to define what marriage is and is not. To do so is to interfer with our right to worship as per the first amendment ( ... )

I disagree with your analysis on all possible levels! :D

I'm fun that way, but what can you expect? My mind seems to be designed for politics, and my cynicism is without rational boundary. You have captured a bit of the True Believer-ism, but virtually none of this is true for the political class.

I'm such a brat. I love you anyways, though.

Why? They voted it down. Stupid shit goes before the Senate all the time; you only need to worry if it gets passed. Don't panic till they start rolling back Lawrence v. Texas.

The disillusionment of the reactionary Christian right True Believers with the Republican party is entertaining as hell to watch, though. They're finally figuring out that the Republicans have been flogging them for their votes and their key issues have still been widely unchanged since '00. Suckas!
