Writing and Dreidels

I just finished re-working my third article for EARTH Magazine. This is the third editor I've worked with over three articles, and so far she's definitely the harshest in terms of cuts. I think too that she managed to take a lot of my voice out of the writing, so I tried to re-insert that a bit in my clarifying edits back to her.

I haven't been on Livejournal in AAAAGES, but I login now and, lo and behold, see that you have written an article detailing a missing link in pinniped evolution. I do not know if you are aware of this, but I have a strong fascination with pinnipeds and for the longest time was deeply committed to studying them. What I am trying to say, I guess, is OMG LINKS PLZ

Also, congratulations! Sounds like things are going well for you :)

Thanks! I'm enjoying writing for them, though I'm only on my third article so far. It's been a huge learning experience since I've never done anything like this before. It's also been fascinating to call up all the researchers and paper authors and get to grill them on everything that I think is interesting. (My articles are short enough so far that I don't really need to interview them as thoroughly as I have been, but I've been enjoying it too much not to!)

How are you? You're right, it has been ages, and I have no idea what you're up to! You're working on a graduate degree now, right? Still in herps?
