After a really frustrating, backwards day at B&N today, John picked me up and took me to a Sounders FC game. Though neither of us knows much about soccer--his co-worker Ray helped to educate us a little--it was a lot of fun, and they made some great goals. So freaking good. It also made me cry within the first five minutes of the movie, but I don't care. It was awesome.

I'm seriously tempted to name my future children either Russell or Carl or Kevin now. (Douglas, or "Dug," is already in the running for my mom's younger brother.) It's silly, and I'm sure the impulse will pass, but man oh man.

Tonight I took an extra shift that will bring me up to the number of hours I should have (minimum) for the week. I was a little under-utilized this week for some unknown reason.

I just got another article assignment from Earth Magazine. My week just substantially increased in potential awesomeness.

I'm stoked.

It's another "embargoed" story too, which only adds to the awesome factor. It makes me feel stealthy and cool and "in the know." Think of it as if James Bond did science journalism. Hot.

I wish more than anything right now that we had a pool. Maybe it's wishful, empty thinking, but I feel like a full submergence might just help to wake up my brain.
