It wasn't until yesterday that I really understood that the guy who produced/arranged for Michael Jackson's Off the Wall and Thriller albums also did the arrangements and conducted the band for Sinatra at the Sands. Holy crap, Quincy Jones is my hero.

Playing Rock Band for a week has got me thinking about pop music. I'm starting to wonder whether jazz has lost something by not having the sort of ostinato lines you often find in rock music. Maybe I'll try working that into tunes I write. Then again, that's more an arrangement thing than composition, but I like arrangement too.
Everything has disappeared off my LJ friends page. I'm not sure what happened, but everything is gone. It won't let me look at previous entries, and there are no new entries. There's just... nothing.
In an interesting twist of fate, the first project I did for my first year composition course has become my final project in my fourth year composition course. Irony, thy name is My Life.
