it's crazy that i hear this kind of thing all the time, (or rather did, as the "blackest" any of my white folk here get is sprinkling the occasional "word" into their conversations) and never actually thought about the full connotation. it's like when fashion magazine ads get analyzed to show the "hidden" misogyny your mind never registered, then suddenly it's like "DAMN! that's so fucking sexist!" etc, despite (perhaps due to) how common it is and how unintrusive it once was.
