Again, I'm pretty much doing these for my own amusement. And because this is a better path to take then not writing at all. And I uploaded lots of stuff too.
That is the actual name of the song! It's an incredible song, seriously!
Number 1 is such a good, good song. I've been wanting to get the single, but I feel I should go back and buy "Black Cherry" first. I feel like a Goldfrapp poseur because I don't own any of the albums yet, but they shall definately come into possession in time.
You'll have to let me know if you like the Marianne Faithfull version. Its alot different, but still very cool.
That is really odd about Franz Ferdinand II, because other than "The Fallen" I really must say I prefer the middle of the album, and I think it is tragically underrated. Underrated, in that no one I know likes it, or will take the time to like it, and no indie news likes it. In some ways I actually think it is better than the first, because it's much more varied and takes more risks and, y'know, every song doesn't sound exactly the same. I just wish they had spent more time writing the songs & recording it instead of attending hip shows in the NYC area.
i think that i like FF II until around track 8, then I start losing interest. i really really like the first 3 songs because they're so hyperactive, then "walk away" is a change of pace, but its probably my favorite song on the album. I like the tracks following it, but theyre still growing on me.
I guess reviews for the album have been more mixed than anything. I look through too many mainstream mags when i go to bookstores, and most of them love it. I think I'm also too influenced by the stupid People magazines my neighbor gives us, because FF have been profiled at least twice in it this year.
Yay! When I finally get broadband - which means downloading music no longer takes 18 hours -someone so much less lazier than me posts lots of handy links to cool songs and takes all the work out of it for me - thank you!
I didn't know you were a Wolf fan - sublime taste.
I love that Strokes song, gotta go get their album tomorrow. They're playing here in a few weeks but I'm going to London :( Quite sad about that.
The Pipettes..hmm..the backing vocalist has such a posh English accent that it kinda breaks the spell for me, but thanks for posting cos I wanted to hear that. Oh and omg I <3 my lj too :)
I wish I had become interested in Patrick Wolf sooner...The very first song I heard from him was a radio station session recording of "Ghost Song." So I've not been into him for too long, but I think he's quite enchanting!
I guess the backing Pipette does have a sorta posh accent, but the song is so cute otherwise that I just block it out.
Sorry you won't be getting to see the Strokes! Hopefully you won't be missing much besides Julian being extraordinarily drunk.

Here's a pic of Patrick I took in Dublin in May (sorry it's rather big):
