The amount of drug use a musician partakes of has very little effect on my decision to purchase one of their albums. I don't see drug use, or eratic behaviour as metal; and I regard blasphemy, profanity, and coarse language to be signs of ill breeding and bad manners rather than as signs of musical talent

The same people who think drug use and crazy dickish behaviour is emblematic of rock and roll are probably the same people who think serious literature is all about drinking and killing yourself.

Actually the Rolling Stones weren't the 'heir apparent' to the Beatles. They were more like the Pepsi to the Beatles Coke.
And I thought Johnny Depp's character was more of the re-hash of his character in Fear & Loathing.
