Please don't make assumptions about an LJ user's parents after just reading one or two comments in a community. You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, but you can't really judge what a person's parent's childhood was like after just reading a couple of sentences about the parent wanting a pet while growing up. Kids and pets are a lot of work, I totally agree - but my mother was actually the one doing a lot of the "work" of raising her siblings; not her parents.
