I'm compulsively checking wunderground.com, and listening to my radio, to see how things are going. Godspeed to all of the people taking refuge in the Superdome. Please try to be nice to each other.

If you're playing in the ocean, and you find yourself in a rip current, swim parallel to the shoreline until you're out of it. They're only around 30 feet wide. Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT try to fight that damn current and make it back to the shore against it.

If I want to do a background check online (to check public records, court records, etc) does anyone have any suggestions about which service to use? There seem to be thousands out there, but I want one which is not a rip-off, one that provides good information with no hidden fees ( Read more... )

I was outside just now, and saw a helicopter fly over at a very high speed. It was quite loud, because it was really bookin'.

Came from the direction of the UNC hospital, so I'm assuming it was going to try to help out someone who's been hurt pretty bad in a car accident.

My thoughts are with whomever that copter was going to help.

So my buddy k9positive got an idea after we saw Mo Rocca speak at UNC. Mo has apparently memorized the capital of every single country in the world. That way, when he meets someone from Laos, he can ask "Ohhh, are you from Vientiane?" Chances are, the person will be from the capital (or around it) and will be amazed that Mo knows sooo much about their ( Read more... )

I read here about Cheney being "hustled to a secure location away from Pennsylvania Avenue." I'm wondering if they actually had a place in mind, some "secure location" that had been planned, or if this "secure location" was defined as "as far away from the White House as we can get before the explosion."
