Thanks for reviewing my story -- I'm glad you enjoyed it! For what it's worth, I wrote "The Replacement" long before JE aired, so it never even occurred to me that RTD could do something as ridiculous as having Jack Harkness laughing off Donna's sexual advances.

Yarg! You beat me.

My pleasure. And, ah. Well, I guess I figured if anything deserves a fix-it, that wee bit of ridiculousness from JE did. They did this to Donna a couple of times, and it always drove me bananas. Blue + tentacles, he's there. Donna Noble, not so much? It makes no sense. It's senseless. Your version of their meet is definitely the superior interpretation.

Thanks, Az, for a wonderful review -- I've read it so often I practically have it memorized.

What's really been interesting about Evolution of Rose is seeing what different people get out of the story -- and I think everyone sees a different element. It means something different to every reader. Particularly women readers -- I think (in general) people latch on to what was most similar about their experience (or sometimes what was most dissimilar).

It is very true that what keeps Rose with the men she's with is that they need her -- that's how she validates herself. The Doctor needs her, Mickey needed her -- Jack needed her. Jimmy Stone certainly needed her.

I will not comment on how much of that is also true about me. HA!

Anyway -- thank you so much for reading so carefully and for letting it mean something to you, reviewing it with depth, and giving it such glowing praise.

It absolutely made my week. I cannot express what it meant to me. Thank you.

Oh, good. I always worry a little, the reviews I take chances on. I'm glad you liked it! :)

You're very welcome! As I said on your LJ, I giggled the whole way through this story, and so much of that is that Jack was vivid on the screen for me. That is exactly how he'd react.

I think now you need to write a series chronicling all the ways Jack died during sex. You know he has to have tried auto-asphyxiation at least once... ;)

I'm terribly sorry - I forgot to track posts in this thread and only just saw your response. I liked the story so much that I actually had to pull out Genesis of the Daleks and watch the Harry-and-the-clam scene (and several other scenes *g*) again before I finished writing the review. :)

As for the Americanisms, I sympathise completely. Before I came to this fandom, I wrote in a US-based one and had to learn a whole new vocabulary! Separated by a common language is right...
