I greeted my boarders with coffee, grapefruit juice, fried onions, scrambled eggs, and nice, thick slices of fried ham, just like my Louis - rest his soul! - used to like.
After cleaning up the breakfast dishes, I changed the linens, leaving an invitation on each pillow. I always throw a cheerful holiday sobriquet for all of my people!
I confess to being a little lax at the housekeeping today, since I want to spend time on my decorating. Ever since my wonderful time with my dear, departed Esequiel (wasn't that a scandal!) I have prefered Dia de los Muertos celebrations to their more European counterparts. But I dust the row of urns along the mantle, and I put fresh flowers - probably the last of the year! - in every room, and I make sure everything is tidy.
When Lyndon came to put my bins back in the shed, I even gave him an extra two dollars in the spirit of the season!
