Goal: My goal was to change as little of the scenes as possible, because I don't have the benefit of knowing how this episode fits into the larger season arc. However, I did want to rework the tone and emotional resonance, and I took the liberty of adding a small plot point

This is excellent! I usually avoid rewritten scenes, but all of the additions (and omissions) worked very well. Damn, I wish they'd had Cas inject himself with Gadreel's grace!!!

Thanks! Are there others like this? I hadn't seen any before; I'm curious.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it were in the original script that Cas stole the grace, but they cut it for some reason. It just seemed to fit!
