Me: What about Azaelia?

Chica: I don't want to pick any flower names. They're too girly.

Me: OK... Wait, you named yourself after a flower [when you immigrated]!

Chica: Oh... Well, I was 10 :)

not that I get a vote, but based on personal experience, I would suggest you might also avoid the not-girly-enough names. Good luck!

Also, it's hard to spell correctly. :)

Yeah, apparently it is very difficult to spell correctly. Google returns 1.25 million hits for "azaelia", 1.29 million for "azalia", and 1.22 million for "azealia", with only 5.07 million for the correct spelling (which for countertorque's benefit, is "azalea").

Ooh, thanks. Presumably I could get that right before it goes on the birth certificate. I'd be less worried about hard to spell if her last name (and middle name) weren't also going to be hard to spell.

Heh!! :-) ;-)
Ok, that's an excellent anecdote. She's gonna love that when she gets older. ;-)

Victoria's not a flower, IS girly, and has the added bonus of being a winner.

What she said. I have not yet inflicted a name on a human, but some of our pets ...

Azaelia's got a nice sound, though. It has some good solid shapes instead of being all soft sounds, even with all the vowels.

I recommend "Oatmeal" as a name! It has the advantage of being reasonably non-girly, easy to spell, and not too common.
