I swear, if New Line is going to screw up The Hobbit, then I don't want the film made. I'm not saying someone else couldn't do it but you have to consider Lord of the Rings and how some aspects must remain the same for The Hobbit. I really don't care for a director who has never even read the book to make this movie. I don't care who it is. As

I don't have a link, but I read an article on imdb.com where Saul was quoted as saying New Line's production rights expire next year, so he plans to simply not allow them to produce a movie based on the Hobbit. I am assuming he can do that by filing some sort of copyright injunction or initiating a breach of contract lawsuit which would put e/t on hold. by the time it is resolved or even heard in court the rightns will be his again and he'll just sell them elsewhere.

The fact that MGM is saying the matter is not closed makes me feel he'll be able to get away with it, esp since this Shaye guy seems to be off his rocker. That article is just unprofessional and ridiculous. Besides, Peter has thanked NEw Line many times before about allowing him the chnace to have 3 movies and not one.
