New Year Thoughts

Jan 01, 2011 07:55

Last night, Sam and I wrapped up the old year with a delicious Highland Fondue -Cheddar cheese, milk, whiskey, onions, served with french bread, cubed apples and pears. Earlier the Kittens and I had a scene and then I snuggled in the new year with Pookie ( Read more... )

Amen!
Why not keep a special journal about all the wild and wonderful things you're gonna get into this year?

You are gonna love sewing!
Do yourself a favor--before you buy a sewing pattern be sure to take a few minutes and look at the instructions included in the pattern. If you don't understand them in the store, you won't understand them at home either. It goes without saying that not all sewing patterns come with clear, easy to understand instructions either.

I'm really looking forward to the sewing, actually. This is just the basic course (we're making a pillowcase), but there's also a section on pattern-reading. After this one, I'm hoping to sign up for the 202, where we make a ladies top. I have some really beautiful fabrics that mom brought back from India and Malaysia, and I'm hoping to eventually be able to do something nice with them.

As far as journal keeping goes, I always hope to do this, but never succeed. I think it's because I already keep up an internal monologue, so by the time I'd get stuff on paper (or electronic), I've already heard it all before and I bore myself. And I figure if I'm bored, others would be too.

I'm sure I've bored stones into gravel many times myself, particularly when I discussed that curved flowerbed of mine. You're entitled!

Never! We gardeners are never bored by stories of your flowerbed. Mere mortals, perhaps, but who cares about them? ;)

What is this *vertical wind tunnel* thing you mentioned? That sounds pretty cool.

It's basically a way to "fly" as the wind keeps you aloft. Many liken it to Skydiving without the inherent danger.

I'd gotten a gift certificate for Sam for Christmas, as he's always wanted to fly like Superman. So now, he can.

OH WOW - I'm terribly afraid of heights so this sounds amazing and do-able. Will you email or msg me details - like where the company is located, etc? <3

It's over in Orlando, on International Drive. Company is called ifly (or Skyventure). Website is www.iflyorlando.com. They've got rates, etc listed.

They are a bit pricey, but they occasionally do half off coupons through Groupon or LivingSocial, and that's how I snagged ours.

Will let you know how we enjoy it, and I expect Sam will post the dvd of his "flight" on facebook.

Sounds like a nice relaxing New Years.

I don't think I've had raspberry schnapps, but I am a big fan of blackberry brandy. It's a cure-all.

:) I actually took a new job a few months back (same company) and have been swamped ever since! Liking it a whole heck of a lot better than the old job though, so that's good.

Things have only this past week started quieting down enough that I'm actually thinking of a garden post (with pictures!) coming up soon.

Thanks for thinking of me!

Will enjoy reading your post when you have the time to put it up.
Nice people should be thought of--and kept up with.
