The Tenth Night [Action]

Dec 10, 2010 14:25

[To the surprise of no one, Batman has been hard at work in his room with a series of chemicals and scientific equipment.  Next to him are several pieces of equipment, but prominently are the little spheres he usually stores smoke in.   He appears to be tooling with creating compounds to go into them, if you're scientifically minded and in his ( Read more... )

[Catching a glimpse isn't as much of an option where Itachi is concerned, being blind without his Sharingan. With it activated, however, he might notice a fleeting bit of chakra movement.

The ninja is at the river on the edge of town, testing the limits of his chakra capabilities. He's done this several times since he arrived, but there's always the possibility that the level in which they're restricted might vary. He has to be aware of this sort of thing.

Every so often, he'll blow a fireball over the surface of the water, lighting up the area around him.]

[When Batman notices the lighting effects, he makes sure to keep far away, watching the ninja carefully, but doing little to make his presence known. Of course, he doesn't know about the blindness, so he remains as cautious about his hiding as he normally would.

Blowing fire. It's not something you see every day, so it's worth watching for study.]

[After a bit, Itachi sits down at the river's edge, worn out for the moment. His eyes go red, and he scans the area around him for chakra signatures automatically.

He might pause just briefly while glancing in Batman's direction, but then the color fades from his eyes and he goes back to focusing on simple meditation.]

[Glowing red eyes, and he hesitated when he looked in his direction. Had he been detected? Didn't matter. Even he had been, this individual clearly wasn't doing anything unusual. For Luceti at least.]

What are you doing now?

[Oh surprise, how about that. But no really, he actually doesn't sound as annoyed as one might expect for someone interrupting his work.]

Replicating a weapon I used back in our dimension.

Which one?

[She plops down on the edge of his bed. It's a familiar action.]

Knockout gas. Experience shows it'll be even more useful here than it was at home.

[Oh look, another ninja. This one just casually walking along.

...Before he makes a sudden jump for the treeline when the average onlooker wouldn't be around to see it. He's back on the path five seconds later, acting as if he'd never left it.]

[He observes that jump, and admittedly finds it curious why he would make it at all. When he's passed by enough that he won't be detected he'll check the treeline for anything that might've been left behind.]

[Searching will all yield a small bundle of papers hidden inside the trunk of the tree. It's not an easy find - you have to climb high enough, for one, and the hole isn't large.

The papers are all exactly the same - hand-cut and stylized, with the kanji for 'explode' written on them in the middle. Despite that, touching them won't actually make them detonate. WHAT DO YOU DO.]

[Actually, Batman can read Japanese, so... he recognizes the kanji. "Explode." Realization hits. Ninja. Batman quickly gets out of the tree and opens some distance, thinking the papers might actually be weaponized.

Of course he has no idea they won't explode. But in his line of work and experience with ninja, caution is always a watchword. He'll endeavor to stay out of sight still, but he's watching that tree for a bit.]

[Being the most polite of the housemates (save Alfred), Clark actually knocks on the open door first.]

Is this supposed to be open, Batman?

For once, yes.

[He mixes the chemicals he was working with. Odds are Clark's super senses will be able to pick up the smell of the reaction.]

Heh, well I guess if it wasn't supposed to be, it wouldn't be.

[Having received tacit permission, he walks up to his friend a quick sniff from the air and a check of his memory is all he needs to figure out what Bats is up to.] Knockout gas? That could definitely be useful.

After encountering some of the scum here, this is one of the only reliable ways to take most of them down.

Assuming of course, they need to breathe.

[While out that night, he can spot Fujiko out on a rooftop, this time minus the cat-ears, but still in a black catsuit, and quietly singing to herself, thinking no one's around to hear it.

She might or might not have acquired everything shiny she could get out of the item store during Usopp's absence sitting beside her though. Most of pretty looking gems are in a bag though.]

[And guess who arrived behind her silently, looking at the pile of loot Fujiko has so busily acquired.]

...You could stand to go legit with a voice like that.

[Tenses up and instantly quiets, glancing around carefully and trying to hide it... impossible as that might be.]

Who says I'm not legit?

Given your history so far...

[And he looks directly at her collection of stuff on the roof.]

And most legitimate acquisitions aren't left on the roof at the middle of the night.
